Strategic Planning does not have to be a long arduous task. There are many book written and much ink spilled on the grand sweeping efforts. I think there is much to be gained from reading and diving into these processes.
I have been involved with extensive planning efforts, retreat weekends, research and study and so much more. I have come away with a quick 5 Step process that I think can be used by anyone for any given situation. It is really focused on an IT leader who may have never done strategic planning before or who is put off by thinking that it will be to difficult.
Using these steps (explained over the next several posts), you can come away with a great start to your planning efforts. We will unpack these over the next several weeks.
- Step One: Look to the Past
- Step Two: Look at Now
- Step Three: Look Toward the Future
- Step Four: Define your Goals
- Step Five: Identify Objectives
