You should be asking about output from other staff member planning efforts. Check in with others to see if they have any planning completed or in process. Get your hands on as many documents as you can that might inform your plan.
Does your site/school/district have a Strategic Plan? If so – get a copy. Look it over for areas that might need a tech focus. Are there targets that need new technology to achieve? What technology can assist in achieving the goals?
Do they have annual educational focuses? What initiatives are in the works for the next year or two? Reading focus or maybe math enhancement. Student mobility? You will need to beef up your wireless network.
By knowing what others are thinking and putting yourself in the classroom kind of mind, you will uncover some definitive technology expansions that you will need to put in place. It might be foundation tools or state-of-the-art, cutting edge environments that need bolstering. Talk to others about what they have going now. Slide up close and help them achieve their goals.
